This week we differentiated between the four different types of analytics: Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, and Prescriptive.
For our assignment, we will be using Descriptive Analytics and focusing on creating engaging presentations using the data that we have collected. We have been informed about the different uses for each type. Prescriptive analytics holds the most value for the business due to its insightful recommendations and ability to deduce actionable tasks, furthering and achieving the business objectives. it is the type which CEOs and Managers are most interested in.
What happened: After the lecture, we broke off into groups, in order for us to play around with google analytics and check out each other's websites. I had to figure out how to create a new conversion event to gather data, for a specific action on my website. I wanted to create a conversion when visitors would click on the "Shop Collection " button on my homepage which will lead them to the "Wall Art Shop" page.
Feelings: This was a confusing task, which made me feel a bit unsure at times.
Evaluation: As this was a difficult task I thought it would be a good idea to find a few tutorials and blog posts in order to help me. Using videos was the best route ad I was able to play and pause after each instruction and carry out the step. the good thing about this experience was the self-conducted research and the peer-to-peer help. we were able to find different information and share our knowledge with each other. this made the task much easier
Analysis: This situation showed me that the help of your peers is extremely valuable and sharing knowledge with others should be encouraged in class.
Conclusion: in the future, I think it would be very beneficial to have some background knowledge or even a place where peers can share their knowledge in a relaxed way.
Action plan: if this situation arose again one thing I would do differently is not be afraid to share my knowledge of the situation but also not be afraid to ask for help. Even if it is only a small contribution as this can be beneficial to the wider picture. This would make the task more efficient.
