Week 1: An Introduction to Digital Marketing and Analytics.

In this session, we were introduced to our colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.  We were made aware of the differences between Web Analytics and Digital Analytics, with a conclusion that Web Analytics is a subset of Digital Analytics. This difference is important to be aware of as Digital Analytics is an amalgamation of preference data sets from a variety of platforms which include Websites, to strategies how the company should move forwards in the future. Touching on Structured and Unstructured data, we were shown a comprehensive diagram and table whereby the benefits of compiling structured data was shown

We were briefed on the Assignment and assessment criteria with a chance to ask questions and make sense of the module handbook. this led to questioning the types of blogs and websites we are able to set up, and the different platforms available to us.  The briefing eased my worries and answered my questions on the way we will be assessed, and I found many peers having the same questions as me. 

During the seminar, we were introduced to a range of Analytics platforms, and the task was to conduct quick research to determine pricing plans as well as GDPR compliance. This research showed the majority of Analytics platforms conform to the GDPR however Google Analytics was amongst the outliers. It also gave me a broader view of the vast number of analytics platforms which is used in the industry, and furthered my understanding of the sought-after features of a platform, and why it would be appealing for a company. this piqued my interest in learning more about these different platforms, especially Google Analytics. In order to do this, I signed up for online courses and checked out some library books to further my knowledge as well as contribute to my CPD. 

Upon reading and reflecting on the module handbook, there the course details aspects of digital marketing that I am curious to learn more about, which is highly motivating for me and made me feel excited about this module. I expect to gain the right skills which can equip me as a digital marketer in my future career.
